Manchester City overcame RB Leipzig last night for the Champions League group stage game two, getting another 3-1 win and all three points to assert themselves at the top of Group G.

And while City had to wait until the last 10 minutes to take the lead over Leipzig, they were by far the better team throughout the 90 minutes, and it took their two super subs to come and change the scoreline.

Phil Foden got the game started less than 30 minutes into the game, which took City into half-time the happier side. At the 47th minute, Luis Openda equalised for Leipzig, much to City’s frustration.

Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku were then brought on from the bench, which led to a complete turnaround for the European Champions. Alvarez scored a stunning goal at the 83rd minute, and then Doku finished off the game in the last two minutes.

And with all of the second-week UCL fixtures played, UEFA have announced the four nominees for goal of the week :

  1. Julian Alvarez ( Man City )
  2. Bruna ( Braga )
  3. Jude Bellingham ( Real Madrid )
  4. Schar ( Newcastle )

To vote for Julian Alvarez, go to the UEFA Champions League official website, find the title ‘goal of the week,’ and press vote on the name of the Citizen.
