Manchester City will hope to return to winning ways on Wednesday evening as they meet RB Leipzig, once again, in the UEFA Champions League matchday two.
Man City and Leipzig have gotten off to a good start in their UCL journeys, with both teams getting 3-1 wins and three points; which puts City on second spot.
Man City’s last two games of September didn’t go exactly to plan, firstly, going out in the Carabao Cup to Newcastle and then losing their first game of the Premier League this season to Wolves. But despite these two losses, Pep won’t panic too much about his team’s outcome from group G, though, he will definitely know much improvement will be needed going forward.
Man City will face Leipzig for the third season in a row, the most memorable encounter coming during the 22/23 campaign when Erling Haaland added five goals to a 7-0 win ( 8-1 aggregate ).
The current European champions will know not to take this Leipzig task too lightly, especially with the results they have been claiming over Bayern Munich thus far, ( 3-0 German Super Cup, and 2-2 in the Bundesliga a few days ago ). And while City will still go into this game as the favorites to get all the available points, it wouldn’t be such a shock if Leipzig took something from this meeting.
Man City predicted line-up
4-2-3-1
31. Ederson
2. Walker, 25. Akanji, 3. Dias, 24. Gvardiol
16. Rodri, 8. Kovacic
11. Doku, 19. Alvarez, 47. Foden
9. Haaland
Pep Guardiola will give his press conference ahead of tomorrow later today, alongside Ruben Dias.
Injured names such as Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic have officially returned to the starting lineup, while it remains to be seen if John Stones can feature, after Pep explained that his comeback could possibly be this week or, if not, after Leipzig.
