The women’s Super League returned on Sunday afternoon, and Manchester City got off to the right start as they bagged themselves three points after a 2-0 win over West Ham.

Man City are hopeful that they will be able to achieve some glory this season, after having quite a disappointing 22/23 term, not being able to win any trophies.

And in their aim to do just that, they have started their journey off the right path, with English international Lauren Hemp and new signing, Jill Roord both getting their names on the scoresheet. And while City did face a setback as Leila Ouahabi was sent off to the pitch due to her reaction, City were still able to finish the job.

Manager Gareth Taylor expressed his thoughts on his team’s overall performance,

” I was so impressed with the performance. I felt in the first half, we just needed to tidy up on our final action. We tweaked things at half-time. Lauren ( Hemp ) led the line so well and scored a fantastic goal, and we needed just that.  But I like what we did, and I’m impressed today.

After that first game, Man City are placed on second spot, under Leicester City.

They next face quite the task, as they prepare for Chelsea, on Sunday 8th, October.
