Due to severe back pain, Pep Guardiola returned to his home country and underwent emergency surgery. Following his recovery from the surgery, the Spanish coach rejoined Manchester City. His club confirmed this by sharing a brief video on social media.

In the four-second video clip, Guardiola can be seen waving to the fans as he assumes the responsibility of training the Citizens. Following the international break, the team is set to face West Ham next Saturday, and it’s in that match that the Spanish coach is scheduled to return to the dugout.

Guardiola was absent from the dugout for two matches for Manchester City, with the FIFA window running from September 4 to 12. Assistant coach Juanma Lillo stepped in admirably during his absence, and Guardiola’s team secured a full six points since May 2.

Approximately a month ago, Guardiola had to undergo an emergency back surgery. Manchester City made the announcement in a statement after the successful surgery, which took place in his hometown of Barcelona, Spain. The 52-year-old star coach is currently undergoing rehabilitation there.

Nevertheless, even if his back pain subsides, Guardiola may face a challenging match against West Ham. Despite their struggles last season, David Moyes’ team has been playing exceptionally well since the season began and has made some impressive signings. Football pundits anticipate that the competition could be fierce.
