The 2022-23 football season was one of the most successful times for Manchester City. Under Pep Guardiola, City won their first-ever Champions League and also secured their first-ever treble in history. This was indeed met with a lot of delight by fans.

While celebrations are still going on, former City legend Yaya Toure has sent a warning to the club. A treble winner with FC Barcelona, Toure cautioned City about the difficulties of defending a treble. First, he spoke about how he and FC Barcelona had a bit of a downfall after winning the treble.

Along with speaking about the challenges of defending a treble, he was also appreciative of the performances by Manchester City.  Appreciating City’s ability to win games week in and week out, Toure said:

"“It will be difficult, but City already have the experience of winning the league year after year. The core of the team will also stay the same, they are still young, but they have players with experience and a love of winning games week-in, week-out.”"

Yaya Toure was an integral part of the Manchester City team that won the first Premier League for the club. Playing in the middle of the park, Toure did not only do well defensively, but he also managed to rack up many assists. It will be interesting to see how the club takes his advice and plays next season.

Manchester City will face Manchester United on August 6th

While Manchester City ended their campaign last season by winning the Champions League, this season, too City has the opportunity of starting the campaign with a trophy. On August 6th, City will face derby rivals Arsenal in a clash for the Community Shield.

The last time these two teams met, City registered a 4-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium. When they meet on August 6th, the team in blue will look to replicate the same performance and win the Champions League.
