Football fans around the world have one thing, and one thing only going on in their minds. Yes, you guessed it right, the UEFA Champions League final. On June 10th, 2023, Premier League champions Manchester City face the Italian giants in the Champions League final. A massive game for both teams.
Whether you are a fan of either team or not, you are bound to watch this game. After all, both City and Inter bring great excitement whenever they step on the pitch. While there are a lot of discussions going on about the game, many fans are particularly interested in knowing who will win this game.
On paper and based on their form, City look like massive favourites. However, Inter can’t be underestimated. And this is why, the Champions League finals this year are going to be interesting to watch. With many undecided on the favourites, PSG star Kylian Mbappe has already picked his winner.
Mbappe, who is yet to win a Champions League himself, recently spoke about who he thinks will win the game between City and Milan. The young Frenchman also added that he thinks it will be an interesting final, and just like millions of football fans around the world, he too will be tuning in to watch the game. Mbappe said:
"“It’s going to be a great game, I’m going to watch it. I think Man City are going to win!”"
If Mbappe’s prediction comes out to be true, Manchester City will win their first-ever Champions League. Despite being one of the most successful teams in Europe in recent years, City has been criticised for not being able to win the Champions League. A victory against Inter Milan could help City shut their critics once and forever.
This is the second time Manchester City are going to feature in a Champions League final
Under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City has been a force to reckon with in domestic football. However, the same has not transpired in European competition. Previously, in 2021, Guardiola led City to a Champions League final against Chelsea. However, MCFC went on to lose the game 0-1 due to a goal by Kai Havertz.
City’s loss to Chelsea in the CL final was indeed a forgettable moment for them. But, this time they will be prepared for the test to come. Ahead of the game against Inter, City midfielder Rodri has claimed that he and his team feel ready and confident. If City can use the lessons they learnt from their last European finals, MCFC fans can expect their team to win a treble.
