Pep Guardiola has given an update on the injury news of Erling Haaland after he was sent home from international duty early with a groin injury.

The Nordic Meat Shield missed the home game against Liverpool where the blues beat their Merseyside rivals 4-1 in a thrilling performance.

Dubbed one of the best performances this season by fans, the free-flowing football we are used to seeing from this side made a return.

With goals from Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish, it seemed that the Liverpool set up made it easy with the missing superstars, Haaland and Foden.

Haaland watched his teammates and cheered them on from his box with his ex-City dad, Alfie Haaland. The Norwegian’s appeared to be having a blast whilst doing the Poznan with the rest of the fans inside the Etihad – it was beautiful.

Fixtures are coming in thick and fast with the business-end of the season well underway, so fans will be delighted to have heard from the boss man himself that Haaland will be “ready” for the journey south this weekend.

Pep Guardiola stated: “Erling trained the last two days, really good.”

“He will be ready.”

The world-class striker currently has 28 PL goals in 26 appearances and has broken a number of records already. Can he continue to break records with the blues?

Foden remains unfit, though recovering well from surgery after falling ill with appendicitis during the international break. He is expected back in a few weeks.

The blues are set to travel to Southampton this weekend where they will hope to secure all three points and close the gap on league leaders, Arsenal.
