Manchester City knocked out RB Leipzig out of the Champions League in an exciting 7-0 night at the Etihad this week (8-1 aggregate). Next up: another German club, Bayern Munich.
City’s stylish win over RB Leipzig
City fans may as well ditch the Spanish and French duolingo classes, and pick up a German dictionary with the amount of trips we take there.
The blues have done the job against Dortmund and Leipzig this season – can we do the treble against Bayern?
The draw is done and the scene is set. Joao Cancelo and Leroy Sane will return to the Etihad for the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals. The second leg will be in Germany, to concern some blues.
However, our boys have proven that they can outplay and beat anyone when at their best. The worry is, they have also shown us that we can lose to absolutely anyone too this season – bottom of the PL Southampton.
Nevertheless, over the years, this team and Pep has earnt our trust.
With the Premier League coming to a close quickly, and Arsenal holding onto top spot with everything they have – likely even more so after being kicked out of Europa, the blues will want to bring home a big one.
With everyone currently fit, and the fixtures coming in thick and fast – the strongest of line ups is surely to be reserved for this Champions League fixture, the first leg of which will be played either the 11th or 12th of April.
If we are to make it through to the semi finals we will face either Chelsea or Real Madrid in May. Perhaps one game at a time? I would be lovely to get our chance against the CL giants, Real Madrid again – though that did not work out too well for Liverpool.
Up next though, we have Burnley in the FA Cup. Another ex-blue to return to the Etihad. Though I am sure one of our favourite captains and club legends will get a beautiful welcome home.
After which will be another international break – just as City pick up form during their favoured part of the season.
Stay tuned for our predicted line up ahead of the clash with Burnley.
