Leicester vs. Manchester City: who will Pep start to face the foxes?
By Laura Graves
Ederson
The Brazilian was benched on Tuesday for the first time this season so that Ortega could step in for his debut. The new signing looked comfortable and kept a clean sheet, though wasn’t really challenged.
Pep has admitted in his press conference that Eddie will be back between the sticks this weekend. Presumably allowing Ortega some minutes ahead of the upcoming League Cup game vs. Chelsea.
Who should be on penalty duty?
Stones
Johnny, Johnny Stones! It was great to see him back for City during the Champions League game in Germany this week. He played the full game, and in the second half a more advanced role. Will he be ready to start 2 consecutive games after being side-lined by injury? Perhaps we will see Akanji.
Dias
Some quietly solid performances and another 90 under his belt on Tuesday, the Portuguese is a player whose form improves by the game. Or will Pep go for a pacier CB paring to counter Leicester’s threat?
Laporte
Rested against Dortmund after some brilliant performances. I’m Eric will be back in the starting XI.
Cancelo
The Portuguese was hooked at half time midweek due to a “fever” as described by Pep. Dortmund’s pacey wingers looked to exploit the space behind our number 7 which created some minor problems in the first half.
Harvey Barnes is quick and will need a more solid defender to keep him under control, therefore, I imagine Joao will be in his new common position on the left.
