Ederson

The Brazilian reminded the world why he’s our number (3)1 on Saturday after making a couple of crucial saves after Brighton had pinned City back and forcing the breakthrough for the first goal with a brilliant pass leading to an assist for the first goal.

Cancelo

Akanji struggled on the right at the weekend and didn’t receive much support in front of him from Mahrez. Finding himself isolated and out of his natural position is something that we can’t afford in a Champions League battle.

With Walker still out, and Stones only just back from injury with no minutes to settle, we could see Cancelo back in his natural position on the right.

Dias

Looking back in fine form, he could keep his place in the starting XI. And after a few games out of position, Akanji might benefit from a rest midweek.

Laporte

Our best defender against Brighton. His ability to read the game, passing range and comfort on the ball allows him to make his job look easy. He did take a knock towards the end of the game on Saturday but was spotted in training.

Ake

Left out on Saturday, Ake has been in excellent form. Whilst having him on the left limits the creativity on that side that we are used to seeing Cancelo bring, we know he will put in a solid defensive shift.

Perhaps a switch between him a Laporte would allow some creative outlet on the left. But does Pep even know what Pep’s thinking so early in the day?
