City vs. United: Derby-day player ratings with a twist
By Laura Graves
Gundogan
All of the times he took the ball on the half-turn and United’s mid midfield couldn’t handle it, he sent them back to London. Guess this is why we call him Silky Ilkay? Manchester City’s clutch, controlling the game completely.
Bernardooooo
Midway first half, his close ball control and technical ability helped him to bypass McTom as if he was one half of a Maccy’s Happy Meal. Proving to all watching that he was the best Portuguese midfielder on the pitch – he loves a derby-day occasion.
Dominated the midfield space, helped Gundogan control the pace and tempo, to contain United’s midfield so that De Bruyne could move forward.
De Bruyne
His assist. It was perfectly De Bruyne. If you were to describe a Belgian ginger’s pass, it would be the pass for that assist – completely bypassed their whole backline. Overall, a fantastic game for the best midfielder in the league.
