Manchester City signed Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg for £55M in 2015. Dubbed a “Chelsea reject”, he went on to impress in the Bundesliga being crucial in their win of the German Cup, subsequently winning footballer of the year in 2015.

Since he joined City, he’s gone on to be one of the best attacking midfielders in football and hugely successful for the blues.

He’s been voted Manchester City’s Player of the Month, Player of the Season and PFA Player of the Year numerous times and received multiple Team of the Year entries.

The Belgian has been unstoppable in the Premier League and City’s most important player on many occasions, often carrying the team to key wins in tight PL title winning battles.

De Bruyne’s Manchester City trophy collection is one that is enough to cause envy to some of the most established and respected players, which includes, x4 Premier Leagues, x1 FA Cup, x5 League Cups and x2 Community Shields – we know how massive those are after Liverpool’s win in summer.

For all De Bruyne’s team and individual accolades he is still yet to be voted Premier League Player of the Month. WHAT? Many will find this hard to believe.

Not only one of City’s most consistent performers, one of the Premier Leagues consistent performers. The ultimate team player!

With 129 assists and 87 goals across 317 games for the blues, making that 216 goal contributions in all competitions – due to beat Gerrards assist record in only almost half the games.

There are only two possible reasons for his lack of PL Player of the Month awards:

1)      Massive bias towards Manchester City, though we have had other players achieve this award

2)      His performances are so consistently impressive, that there isn’t a particular month that outshines himself

Not that this matters at all of course, as we know Kevin De Bruyne is currently the best Premier League attacking midfielder, and we are lucky to have him!
