Ederson

Pep’s usual first choice will start on Sunday, his experience in a Manchester Derby will be key. We have seen glimmers of United’s intention to press, which they might be reluctant to do against City.

However, we will need Eddie’s ice-cold nerves and ability on the ball if they do decide to venture out of their own half, which we didn’t see last season – I expect otherwise this weekend.

Walker

Another that will be key with experience and pace to try and prevent the counterattacks. Whilst his form has been less that top so far due to being given a slightly new role, he will be needed.

Akanji

The new signing has settled into life as a blue incredibly well so far, impressing fans with his assured and solid performances.

Aggressive defensively, comfortable on the ball, press resistant and good passing ability. With Stones and Laporte out, he could see his first Manchester Derby.

Dias

Dias is solid as always and commands his backline well. Whilst he has seen a small drop in form, likely due to overall drop in defensive performances across the back and injuries last season.

He won’t be new to a Manchester Derby which we will need if the CB pairing lacks the level of experience needed for such a unique game.

Cancelo

The Portuguese will be the preferred and likely starter at left back. As we have known his role to be more creative, he will need to ensure he is at the top of his game to protect the space that United are sure to target.
