Possibly the biggest injustice since Mary secretly cheated on Jesus and ended up preggers, Rodri, the real Manchester City player of the season starts for me. “He shall not, he shall not be moved”, not by Pep, not by Phillips, not by anyone.

Someone who isn’t necessarily hailed for their creative or goal contributions is this guy. Who last season scored seven goals and assisted two. This is more than some of City’s forwards. Some real crucial moments in 21/22.

In 33 Premier League appearances he was involved in 26 wins and two losses. His defensive quality, the way he can control a game had never been clearer with 292 recoveries, 42 clearances, 28 interceptions and 13 blocked shots.

He was everywhere, popping up in the oppositions business like petrol prices. A true artist at his craft, which is why it was no surprise to see him rewarded with a new contract with the blues this summer.
