There is an obvious winner, and a bias choice too, but Haaland is the odds-on favourite to end the season holding a golden boot. Not yet to play a single minute of Premier League football, the Norwegian is 3/1 with most bookmakers with Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo all following with longer odds.

Should he remain injury-free then a target of 25-plus goals should be realistic, surpassing the previous year’s total of 23 goals.

Darwin Nunez reflects longer odds and you could probably see why on 12/1 as he will have to sit back in Salah’s shadow for the course of the season. Playing second fiddle to their star man will come at a cost on a personal trophy level for the Uruguayan.

In his five seasons at Liverpool, the Egyptian has won the award three times and someone who seems to enjoy the personal accolades more than the team success. An opinion that will create a bit of heat from folk in Merseyside, I’m sure.

The former Dortmund striker won’t have that issue with goals spread across positions at the Etihad with Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne all hitting Premier League double digits last season.

Next. Why are City losing their academy stars an alarming rate?. dark

Let’s hope post England being crowned World Champions we can celebrate City winning the title again and  our predictions coming true with Haaland coming up trumps.
