Manchester City star has won the Professional Footballers’ Association Young Player of the Year after winning the Premier League title.

While his teammate Kevin De Bruyne missed out on the coveted prize, Phil Foden proves his future is much brighter as he wins the PFA’s Young Player of the season for a second year running. The 22-year-old finished the season with 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

Foden was the favourite in the young category, beating Arsenal pair Emile Smith Rowe and  Bukayo Saka, Reece James, Conor Gallagher and Jacob Ramsey to the award.

And maybe many Cityzens will feel hard done by the outcome of the Belgian playmaker as he was key to their fourth title in five years with eight assists and 15 goals in the league this season, he misses out to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah who was the league’s joint goal scorer with 23 alongside Tottenham’s Son, providing 13 assists.

Pep Guardiola has improved the young Englishman’s game as he has also made him a big integral part of his team this season, and Foden has been handy for City.

"“I am really honoured, especially to win it back-to-back. It shows that I’ve come a long way this year with the consistency of my game. I’m really pleased to win it again.” Said Foden after winning the award."

He has certainly been one of the dangerous players on the wing and not only can he take on his men with his relentless pace on the flank his shooting technique is one of the best considering his age.

Pep would want him to be one of the best next seasons and as he gives him regular time, Foden has to give back consistency to Pep.

The youngster added: “All the best players in the world have got to show consistency and keep performing at the higher level and this year I’ve just tried to do that help my team as much as possible. I’ve been really happy with my performances this year. Hopefully I can win the main award in the future, but it’s all about taking small steps and improving.”

Txiki Begiristain the City director of football said Foden is a shinning light to all young players at City and added how special Phil is “Phil helps embody the quality, drive and determination of every single player here at Manchester City. He’s a special player with special talent.” Said Begiristain.

Nonetheless, City had two winners for the night as the women’s’ team Lauren Hemp also won the same young player of the year.

An well-deserved winner for the Stockport Iniesta as he is showing his potential and promise for Manchester City and England.
