Manchester City are monitoring the situation of Paulo Dybala. This comes as per Gazzeta dello Sport, relayed by Inside.futbol.

It is understood that City have identified Dybala as the potential backup plan for their pursuit of Erling Haaland. The Argentinean’s contract expires next summer and could potentially leave Turin on a Bosman.

Apart from the Cityzens, Tottenham, Liverpool, Inter Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with the 28-year-old.

The 28-year-old is said to be a player that City boss Pep Guardiola ‘admires’. That being said, City’s priority has not shifted and it still remains Erling Haaland.

Borussia Dortmund are likely to part ways with Haaland before the start of the next term, with his €75 million release clause looking set to be triggered. City are considered to be the frontrunners to sign the Norweigan striker, with the player’s father said to be insistent on a move to the Etihad.

However, the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are also in the race to sign the 21-year-old, with a good chance. While the former are close to completing the signing of Kylian Mbappe, the latter are said to be arranging the funds required to sign the Dortmund striker.

Dybala on a free is a very attractive market opportunity. If City do miss out on signing Haaland, Dybala is an effective option upfront.

The center-forward is accustomed to playing as the ‘false 9’ for the Bianconeri. In other words, it would not take long for Dybala to adjust to Pep Guardiola’s system, with him also being used to playing possession-based football.

Juventus want to keep their man though. The former Serie A champions are trying to convince the player to sign a new contract, which would see him earn €8 million-plus €2 million in bonuses. This is a revised and lower offer than the one that was proposed by Juve last year. Having splashed €75 million for Vlahovic, Juve’s finances have taken a massive hit.

It is unlikely at this stage, that the 28-year-old will renew.

What do you think will happen? Will Dybala don the City blues or continue in Italy?
