Manchester City claimed another easy victory away from home on Saturday as they managed to knock off Norwich City.
Dean Smith’s side were absolutely battered on their own turf after both Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden registered themselves on the scorecard. The former had more stake in this away victory over the Canaries as the Englishman scored an outstanding hattrick to lift his side to a 4-0 win at Carrow road.
Manchester City player ratings vs Norwich City- Sterling takes all the glory in a 4-0 win
Against Dean Smith’s men, the Cityzens looked comfortable in their game. Despite slight resistance, the Sky Blues had no problems whatsoever in taking the lead over the hosts.
After Sterling’s opener, his teammate Phil Foden, too, joined the scoresheet just after the start of the second half. In the 70th minute, Sterling added his second goal of the night after slotting the ball back from close range.
In the dying moments of the game, the English forward was handed a chance to complete his hat-trick after youngster Liam Delap was brought down by Grant Hanley inside the box.
Keen to reach three figures, Sterling missed the first attempt to score from the penalty but was able to make the most of the rebound which he firmly struck past the Norwich keeper to claim another hattrick in the City shirt.
This massive win over the Canaries has helped the Sky Blues move 12 points clear at the top. Guardiola’s side is now due to travel to Portugal for their Champions League clash against Sporting Club.
Let us have a look at the player ratings following City’s massive win.
Goalkeeper and Defenders (Manchester City)
Ederson(Goalkeeper) – 7/10
City’s first-choice keeper was back to doing what he does best-keeping clean-sheets for fun. The Brazilian shot-stopper did everything to seal the goal and had kept it safe from the Norwich final third. Also, the keeper had very little to do in front of the sticks and hence was made to save only three shots. Overall, it was a good outing for City no.1.
Ruben Dias(CB) -9/10
At the heart of the backline, the Portuguese defender looked calm and composed as always. The former Benfica man was able to knock off the Norwich frontline with ease. It was a solid performance from the City no.4.Top game from the City star.
Nathan Ake(CB)-8/10
Guardiola’s fourth-choice centre-back was handed another start. Thankfully, the Dutchman adapted to the tempo of the game and had improved with each passing minute. To sum up, it was another decent outing from the defender.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB)-8/10
Cancelo’s deputy was again excellent at the left-back position. Given the fact that the Ukrainian international is forced to play second fiddle to his Portuguese teammate, the defender did more than enough to create a lasting impression on Guardiola. It remains to be seen whether the full-back is provided with a start next week in the Champions League fixture against Sporting Club.
Kyle Walker(RB)-8/10
The City right-back had a good day at the office as he helped Sterling with a neat assist. Besides that, solidarity at the back was well maintained by the Englishman. Throughout 90 minutes, he did not put a foot wrong in his game.90 minutes of class.
