Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku this summer, as per BILD(via GOAL).

The likes of Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid, and Juventus are said to be in contention for the signature of French international.

Nkunku, 24, is having a terrific season at Leipzig netting the ball on 18 occasions and laying down 9 of them in 30 appearances across all competitions. The French man has been by far the best player in Saxony.

The midfielder scored 7 goals and an assist in 6 appearances in a rather disappointing UEFA Champions League campaign for RB Leipzig.

Nkunku’s working paper runs until 2024 at the Red Bull Arena, but he is not said to have an exit clause.

As reported by the source, the attacking midfielder’s prolific goal-scoring form has enticed interest from a host of elite clubs. The inquiries about the Frenchman have “piled up in the past few weeks”.

With that said, Manchester City are tipped to battle Arsenal in the race to sign Nkunku. The Gunners were reportedly keen on the 24-year-old in the past. With Saka being linked with a move to City, things could take an interesting turn.

Saka’s decision might prove a decisive one for Mikel Arteta, with Nkunku’s highly uncertain future at Leipzig. The Cityzens might make way for the French midfielder if they land the Gunners’ winger in return.

On the flip side, his former club Paris Saint Germain are considering a move to recall the midfielder. Nkunku is touted to succeed Kylian Mbappe, who is tipped to leave the club this summer to join Real Madrid on a Bosman, claims the source.

Manchester City have been working on their midfield reinforcements lately and the Leipzig player could be a perfect fit for the bill. The Bundesliga star is a versatile player who can play as a winger cum attacking midfielder. But, having signed Jack Grealish, who plays in a similar position for a whopping £100 million, it does not make sense to sign Nkunku.

Leipzig will be finding it troublesome to pen down a new deal with Nkunku, given the offers he has on the table. In my opinion, the French midfielder may be on his way out of Bundesliga given the clubs interested in signing him and his aspirations of playing Champions League football.

But, as far as City is concerned, I don’t see the defending PL champions signing him.
