All eyes will be on Erling Haaland next summer as he is looking set to leave Borussia Dortmund before the start of next term. Manchester City are closely following the situation of the 21-year-old striker.
The Norweigan striker has recorded some staggering stats playing for the Schwarz Gelben. In the 79 appearances that the 21-year-old has made for the former Bundesliga champions, he has scored 80 goals while assisting on 21 occasions.
Consequently, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping an eye on the former RB Salzburg striker.
With the 21-year-old’s €75 release clause coming into play next summer, Haaland could be available for a bargain fee. With that said, many reports have suggested that the player prefers a move to Spain over England; Real Madrid is said to be his preferred destination. Barcelona, despite their financial difficulties, are confident about signing the Dortmund striker.
Recent reports from AS (via Sport Witness) suggest that Erling Haaland could ‘reject’ offers from the Premier League and the Parisians as the player is keen on living in Spain. Haaland’s family is said to own a house in Marbella, further indicating that a move to Spain is on the cards for the talented striker.
The report further understands that Haaland was set to meet with Dortmund to discuss his future but with the delicate situation regarding his agent Mino Raiola’s health, everything has been put on hold.
Real Madrid are hoping to take advantage of their good relationship with Dortmund while Barcelona are hoping that Mino Raiola’s friendship with Joan Laporta would be the key to Haaland joining the Los Cules.
It remains to be seen what the player decides but as it stands, a move to Spain is looking imminent for the striker. With Real Madrid aiming to reach an agreement with Kylian Mbappe after the conclusion of their tie with PSG, Haaland is not currently a priority for the Los Blancos.
It is highly unlikely that Haaland and Mbappe would want to team up at this stage of their respective careers and thus it would be bold to assume that Madrid would be able to sign both Haaland and Mbappe, even though they have the financial muscle to pull it off.
Manchester City and Barcelona both have the advantage of offering a central role in their respective sporting projects to Haaland but Barcelona are marginally ahead of City in the race as the player is keen to move to Spain.
