Arsenal told to beat Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea to €75m star
In an exclusive report from Express, Arsenal have been told to enter the transfer race to sign Erling Haaland.
Speaking to Express, former Arsenal winger Jermaine Pennant has advised Arsenal to beat the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea in the race to sign Erling Haaland.
With that said, Erling Haaland’s €75 million release clause is set to come into play next summer and a host of elite European clubs are said to be chasing his signature. Apart from Manchester City, the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Chelsea are all said to be in the race to sign the Norweigan striker.
Manchester United are said to be out of the reckoning as per ESPN, with the current turbulent period at Old Trafford proving to be their Achilles heel.
Arsenal could be a surprise entry in the transfer race and more so if they manage to secure their UEFA Champions League spot for next season. The Gunners are currently battling it out with rivals Manchester United for the fourth spot and are only 2 points behind the Red Devils, but with a game in hand.
"Pennant said: “They need a good striker”“I watched them against Liverpool in the [Carabao Cup] semi-final and they could have been 2-0 up before half time.”“But they didn’t have that cutting edge. They had chances – but they need an out and out striker who’s going to get them goals.”“Erling Haaland at Dortmund – he’d be a great signing for Arsenal. But you’ve got big teams after him including Man City, Man United and Chelsea.”“And I wonder if Arsenal can, or will, match them in wages – but a player like that would literally kick on Arsenal and take them to the next level.”Source: Express"
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of captaincy last month and has not featured in an Arsenal XI since then. It is understood that a disciplinary breach has brought such drastic measures into play.
The Gabon striker is unlikely to play for Arsenal again and the Gunners are looking to part ways with him this month. Consequently, Alexandre Lacazette has been handed the captaincy but he has not been in good form this season, scoring only thrice this season.
With goals not coming in for Arsenal, they were all in for Dusan Vlahovic but the player rejected the former Premier League champions’ offer because he was in favor of joining a UEFA Champions League side.
On Friday, Vlahovic’s €75 million move to Juventus was made official.
It is now understood that the North Londoners are chasing Alexander Isak but it remains to be seen if Real Sociedad are ready to part ways with the Swedish striker in the middle of the season.
Manchester City are certainly one of the favorites to sign Erling Haaland next summer and while the player is said to prefer a move to Spain; outside of Spain, City hold the best chance of signing the 21-year-old.
