The process of building a team for the future has well and truly begun at Manchester City. The likes of Phil Foden, Liam Delap, and James McAtee have already managed to grab the headlines. The Cityzens have also managed to snap up the Brazilian teen sensation duo of Kayky and Metinho. With that said, Erling Haaland has been the dream for Manchester City.
One thing is clear, the Cityzens want Erling Haaland to lead their project. At the age of 21, the Norweigan striker has already established himself as one of the top strikers in the game and has been heavily linked with a move from Borussia Dortmund this coming summer.
Erling Haaland, 21, is being courted by a long list of elite European clubs which include Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain. In short, the coming summer window will likely revolve around Haaland, who is being widely sought after across Europe.
Borussia Dortmund want to keep their striker but with the Schwarz Gelben knocked out of the UEFA Champions League, their hopes of renewing Haaland and removing the release clause of €75 million in his contract have taken a massive hit.
Moreover, the relationship between Haaland and Dortmund have become slightly strained at this stage with the player accusing the club of pressuring him and the former Bundesliga champions denying it.
It remains to be seen who manages to offer the best sporting and financial project to the 21-year-old but former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater on Twitter revealed that City are close to signing the prospect.
In a response to a Tweet posted by a fan, asking Goater to announce Haaland, the former striker announced in a reply that Manchester City are ‘so close’ to signing Erling Haaland.
It is still too early to comment on Haaland’s possible destination as if Barcelona, who are apparently out of the race to sign the Dortmund striker, manage to gather the required funds for the operation, they will be in it and with potentially, a better chance than Manchester City. The player is said to be interested in moving to Spain.
Real Madrid are said to be best poised to sign both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland as numerous sources have revealed that the Los Blancos is the dream of both, Mbappe and Haaland.
The only thing that could go City’s way in my opinion is that Haaland would likely join City if a move to Barcelone does not materialize. This is because it is highly unlikely that the two best youngsters of this generation would want to team-up at this stage of their respective careers though anything can happen.
