As per reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester City are following the development of Athletic Bilbao talent, Nico Williams and are said to be ‘crazy’ about the 19-year-old.

The source understands that the Cityzens are in contention to sign the younger brother of Inaki Williams, who has impressed everybody this season with his pace, and skill.

The breakout Spanish talent has been on the radar of elite European clubs and the youngster’s most recent performance against FC Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey RO16 seems to have intensified the growing interest surrounding him.

The source also reports that the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are also following the 19-year-old and could make a move for him. Nico Williams will be difficult to keep for Bilbao, who have been equally surprised by the winger’s talent and recent performances.

Williams Jr. has a contract with Bilbao until 2024 and one of City, United or Liverpool could seduce him with a possible switch to the Premier League. With great potential to go with his talent, he also helped Bilbao reach the Spanish Supercup finals by scoring against Atletico Madrid.

Manchester City’s interest in Williams Jr. makes sense as Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move away from the club and with Riyad Mahrez entering his 30s, the 19-year-old could be his perfect replacement. However, the Cityzens are likely to face stiff competition from Liverpool who will be looking to increase their bench depth.

Nico’s skill set makes him a perfect addition to the Premier League but it is still too early to launch an attempt to sign him. So far, the 19-year-old has failed to score a single goal in La Liga this season and the teams interested in him will also be keeping a close watch on his finishing ability.

Do you think Nico Williams would be a good addition to Manchester City?
