Manchester City fall behind Real Madrid in the race to sign Erling Haaland
Mark Ogden understands that Real Madrid are the favorites to sign Haaland, with the Los Blancos keen on landing both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland next summer.
Haaland, 21, has been linked with a series of elite European clubs as his record with Borussia Dortmund grows even more impressive with every game. So far, the Norweigan striker has made 78 appearances for the Schwarz Gelben and has managed to score 79 goals while registering 21 assists. These are some staggering stats for someone who is tipped to be ‘one for the future.’
The former Salzburg striker has been linked with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Mark Ogden has reported that United are out of the reckoning for Haaland, with the player not keen on joining the Red Devils in their current situation. It is further understood that the player’s camp are admirers of the work that has been done by United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick at his previous clubs, but with the former Premier League champions potentially out of next year’s UEFA Champions League, Haaland is unlikely to sign up for them.
Coming to Real Madrid and Manchester City, the two clubs are equally placed when it comes to offering the player an attractive financial and a sporting project but Ogden reports that Haaland is ‘destined for Real Madrid’ next summer.
While Manchester City can afford the £30 million wages that the player is said to be demanding, the player is simply keen on joining Real Madrid for the next term. Numerous sources have already reported that the 21-year-old prefers a move to Spain and it does look like this saga is headed to Spain.
Barcelona are also said to be one of the favorites to sign Borussia Dortmund striker simply because it is unlikely that Haaland would want to share the leading role of a sporting project with Kylian Mbappe, at this stage of his career. This has come as per numerous sources, who understand that the player wants to lead a sporting project.
Where do you think Erling Haaland will end up? Will it be Manchester City or will it be Real Madrid? Or, could it be Barcelona?
