Manchester City have been reportedly ‘asked’ about  Oleksandr Zinchenko’s ‘general situation’ at the Etihad by La Liga side Real Betis, as per a new report by El Chiringuito’s Jose Alvarez.

Zinchenko, 25, has always been short on game time with the defender constantly being tipped with a move away from the club. The 25-year-old though, has fought his way back into the XI from such situations in the past.

The Ukrainian arrived at the Etihad in 2016 as a central midfielder but was converted into a left-back under Pep Guardiola. Since then the 25-year-old has made vital contributions in the Cityzens’ three Premier League title-winning campaigns.

The source further adds that the Spanish club have plans to make a potential January loan switch for Oleksandr Zinchenko. Having said that, the future of Zinchenko has always been uncertain with the Ukrainian’s limited game time this season with Joao Cancelo establishing himself as one of the best full-backs this term.

Zinchenko has managed to appear only seven times this season.  The Ukrainian has been linked with a move to the likes of Newcastle United and Genoa, the source concludes.

Manchester City have been the best side in the defensive third conceding a mere 13 goals in the 22 league matches they featured. The backline of Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, and Joao Cancelo have become a force to be reckoned with. With that said, Zinchenko might still prove to be a vital cog in the wheel for City as Walker has been struggling with injury issues off-late.

In my opinion, a move in January for an impressive and reliable player in Oleksandr Zinchenko looks highly unlikely specifically with Guardiola looking well on course for a fourth Premier League title.
