Manchester City hold ‘strong interest’ in £100M rated midfileder

Manchester City is reportedly holding a ‘strong interest’ in signing West Ham United’s £100 million rated midfielder, Declan Rice, The Mirror understands.
Rice, 23, has hit the ground up and running this season scoring three goals and four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers. The Englishman has been a vital cog in West Ham United’s drastic rise this season competing for the 4th Champions League spot alongside the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are one of the clubs who could afford West ham’s £100 million valuation for Declan Rice but reigning champions Manchester City hold a strong interest in the highly-rated England midfielder along with Chelsea, as per English outlet The Telegraph.
Manchester United interest in signing Rice does make sense with the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek, and Juan Mata tipped to leave the club next summer. Anthony Martial is also set to leave Old Trafford in search of regular football. This does leave Ralf Rangnick with limited options in the midfield and Rice could be a valuable addition in that aspect of the pitch. Moreover, Rice could be the solution to United’s long-standing problem of lacking a proper holding midfielder.
Manchester City have issues to address in the midfield with the injury-prone duo of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan in their thirties and Fernandinho looking likely to bid farewell to the Etihad at the end of this season adds the source.
That leaves Pep Guardiola with a handful of options in the midfield with only Rodri and Bernardo Silva in the ranks. Declan Rice would provide Pep Guardiola with the pedigree and assurance he needs in the midfield with his dribbling, ball control, and attacking instincts coming into play. Moreover, Rice would allow Pep to play with a double pivot, should the need arise.
Chelsea are also said to be keen on signing the 23-year-old with the club manager Thomas Tuchel said to be a fond admirer of their academy talent. This does pave the way to a scintillating battle for the English midfielder among the three English giants.
So, which club has the edge in signing one of England’s hottest properties in Declan Rice?
