Last night, after getting on the scoresheet twice and helping his side complete an emphatic 5-1 victory over Freiburg, Erling Haaland was asked about his future and the striker gave a rather detailed reply.
The 21-year-old, widely regarded as one of the best strikers of the game already is also being touted as one for the future. With that said, a number of elite European clubs are keeping a close watch on the striker’s future at the Signa Iduna Park, with a £65 million release clause in his contract set to come into play next summer.
The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be interested in signing the Norweigan striker. Manchester City have been rumored to have made Haaland their top priority for the next season.
Erling Haaland has been a revelation for Dortmund, averaging more than a goal a game for the former Bundesliga champions. From the 77 games that he has played for BVB, he has managed to find the back of the net 78 times while also registering 21 assists.
When asked about his future, and how he manages to block out all the speculation surrounding his whereabouts next season, Haaland said that his only priority is to play football and that he did not speak all this while “out of respect for Borussia Dortmund”.
"“Borussia Dortmund are now pushing me to make a decision about things… but I just want to play football. That probably means that I will soon have to get things started.”“I never spoke until now to respect the club.”They want me to decide now. And so… yeah, things will happen now. Even if I only wanted to focus on football and play football.”Source: Twitter"
Haaland is tipped to join either Real Madrid or Barcelona next summer. Dortmund want to keep Haaland and are likely to offer him a new contract in the coming weeks. Moreover, the Schwarz Gelben want to remove the release clause and sell the striker for a much higher fee, if at all the situation arises.
Haaland is rumored to prefer a move to Spain but with him unlikely to team up with Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid and Barcelona finding it difficult to gather the required sum for his arrival, City are in the pole position to sign the talented striker, when it comes to clubs outside of Spain.
