Manchester City ready to intensify their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star
Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick has emerged as a top summer target for Manchester City, reports Spanish news outlet Fichajes.
Patrik Schick, 25, has been in red-hot form for Bayer Leverkusen this season, scoring 17 goals in just 15 Bundesliga games and helping his team stay in contention for Champions League qualification.
Thanks to his impressive goal-scoring performances for Bayer Leverkusen as well as for the Czech Republic during Euro 2020 last summer, he has managed to sneak into the radar of some of Europe’s top clubs.
Manchester City are one of them, with manager Pep Guardiola requesting the club to sign Schick in the summer, claims Fichajes. After spells with AS Roma and RB Leipzig, the Czech Republic international is enjoying the best moments of his career and seems to have finally found a home at Bay Arena.
Having taken his game to the next level after a successful Euro 2020 campaign, Manchester City are looking into the possibility of signing the 25-year-old striker. They would be willing to table an offer of €50 million to try and tempt Bayer into selling their top asset in the summer, the report adds.
Schick is one of the great stars of the Bundesliga defending the colours of Bayer, who knows the great business they have in their hand for the coming months, and the Czech Republic striker could be the bomb in the transfer market with which Man City tries to solve one of their biggest holes in the squad.
Ferran Torres has left the Etihad Stadium to join Barcelona, and with the Sky Blues failing to replace the legendary Sergio Aguero last year, there’s every chance for the club to pull out all the stops for a striker in the summer transfer window.
After Man City have been heavily linked with moves for Erling Haaland and Dusan Vlahovic in the last couple of months, Schick seems to be the latest player included in Guardiola’s shortlist for top attacking targets.
