Manchester City are planning their next season around Erling Haaland and it should come as no surprise really. The Cityzens have failed to sign an able replacement for club legend and former striker, Sergio Aguero.

Erling Haaland, 21, is on the wishlist of many clubs who are looking to sign him next summer when the player’s €75 million release clause will be activated. The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are also said to be interested in acquiring the services of the Norweigan talent.

The race for the Borussia Dortmund striker will mainly be on who offers the better sporting project to the player. The former RB Salzburg striker has been sensational for the Schwarz Gelben, scoring 76 goals from 75 appearances for the former Bundesliga champions.

With Real Madrid said to be the favorites to sign both Haaland and Mbappe next summer, the Cityzens believe that Mbappe’s arrival to Real Madrid could persuade Haaland to go elsewhere, as per Express.

It is already a well-known fact that a rivalry is brewing between Haaland and Mbappe and it would be hard to imagine the two sharing the spotlight, after having been in it in their respective clubs.

For the same reason, Barcelona aren’t willing to count themselves out either. The former La Liga champions believe that they are best positioned to sign Haaland next summer (if they managed to get their funds in order) as it would allow Haaland to compete with Mbappe in the same league.

Outside of Spain, Manchester City are best positioned to sign Haaland with their stable sporting project and financial muscle coming to their aid. Technically, Haaland would have the maximum chances of unlocking his true potential under Pep Guardiola and would also be proving himself in the toughest league in the world.

The source also reports that Manchester City could still launch an attempt to sign Harry Kane but Erling Haaland has become their top priority, after failing to land the Englishman last summer.

With that said, do you think Manchester City will be successful in their attempts to sign Erling Haaland next summer?

Let us know.
