Manchester City are determined to sign Borussia Dortmund’s goal-machine Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window, reports The Athletic.

Erling Haaland, 21, one of Europe’s most coveted strikers, could be on the move over the summer, with Manchester City set to be in the market for attacking reinforcements. The prolific Norwegian international has maintained his sensational form in the 2021/22 Bundesliga season, netting 13 goals and setting up four.

The 21-year-old striker has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona, but Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to bring him to Etihad Stadium. Despite losing Ferran Torres to Barcelona earlier this week, the Sky Blues are not going to sign a striker in January but are willing to go all out for Erling Haaland in the summer, claims The Athletic.

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also understood to be keen on the Norwegian, whose contract at the Signal Iduna Park runs until 2024. However, there is a release clause inserted in his contract that would allow the young striker to leave the club in the summer for a fee of €75M, The Marca states.

Given the obvious talent, potential and pedigree of Erling Haaland, a fee of €75M looks to be a snip in today’s market and age. It is this clause that makes the Norwegian more attractive for Europe’s big-hitters, with Manchester City ready to make him their top target for the summer transfer window, The Athletic adds.

The report further states that Man City will hold meetings with Haaland’s representatives over the coming weeks and months, as they look to tempt him to a move to England at the end of the season.

The Sky Blues failed to sign a replacement for Sergio Aguero in the summer and will not bring in a striker in the ongoing winter window. They have now set their sights on Erling Haaland, but with clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and others lurking in the background, the Norwegian has a big decision to make in the summer.
