Manchester City considering a stunning swoop for Arsenal star
Manchester City are looking for an out-and-out goal-scorer and it is no secret anymore. The Cityzens have fared well without the services of a proper number nine since the start of the last season but it is always a question of ‘what if’ when it comes City lacking a striker.
Bukayo Saka has been sensational for Arsenal this season. In the 20 appearances that the Englishman has made for the Gunners this season, he managed to accumulate a G/A of 10, scoring six times and assisting on four occasions.
Saka is only behind Emile Smith-Rowe, another promising Englishman when it comes to the most number of goals scored for Arsenal this season.
With that said, former Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has advised Manchester City to consider Bukayo Saka when it comes to finding an out-and-out goalscorer.
There is no doubt that Saka is one of the brightest prospects in Europe and under Pep Guardiola he is only bound to grow. The versatile forward is only 20-years-old and certainly has a big-money move coming his way in the coming years.
"“You know what the hardest thing [for Arsenal] is going to be? Keeping their players.“You know [what’s happened] over the years. Saka must be on people’s radar all day long, a big side like Manchester City must be looking at him going, ‘he’ll improve our side’.”Source: Mirror (h/t talkSPORT)"
In my opinion, City will perhaps require the services of Saka in the future but with the Cityzens already stocked up with so many talented wingers in Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, and Raheem Sterling, Saka is bound to struggle for game-time and is perhaps not the need of the hour for the defending Premier League champions.
Though the 20-year-old is an attractive option in the market, there is no hiding that City will also look to replace Ferran Torres, who has joined FC Barcelona for a reported fee of €55 million.
However, with Saka coming good for the Gunners, it remains to be seen if the former Premier League champions are willing to reinforce a direct rival with one of the hottest prospects in Europe.
