According to reports, Barcelona are keen on raiding Manchester City for signing their highly rated centre back Aymeric Laporte. It was only recently that Barcelona snapped up Ferran Torres for a fee of €55 million Euros.  This comes as per The Sun.

Laporte, 27, has been one of the best crentre backs in the Premier League, establishing  a formidable backline combining with the likes of Ruben Diaz. The Spaniard though had a horrible start to this season warming the bench with the likes of Englishman John Stones getting the nod ahead of him by Pep Guardiola.

The former Athletic Bilbao man was contacted by the Catalans in the previous summer window. However, he has been reluctant to any transfer calls taking him away from the Etihad as he has regained the faith of Pep and has been featuring in the Starting XI on a consistent basis.

The source further added that Barcelona are anticipating  a cash injection next summer and aspire to be in a position to link Aymeric Laporte with his fellow Spaniard, Eric Garcia who arrived to Camp Nou in 2021 on a Bosman from Manchester City.

The Blaugrana have been way below par by their standards, conceding nearly 2 goals per match. Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo has been the lone wolf for the Catalans in backline, which has been fragile at times. The Spanish Giants have been heavily linked to touch down Juventus Starlet, Matthijs De Ligt in the summer window. Barcelona President, Joan Laporta’s camaraderie with Mino Raiola is certainly playing dividends to the Catalans, with the Spanish outfit surging ahead of Manchester City in their pursuit of Borussia Dormtund’s Erling Haaland.

In my opinion, Aymeric Laporte is going to have a long haul at the Etihad under Pep Guardiola and a potential homecoming is out of sight at this point. But, the centre back seems to be a fan of Xavi Hernandez and thus can be lured into the deal if he is personally approached by the 41-year-old.

So, is a potential La-Liga switch on Laporte’s radar ?
