The Swedish international has managed to reproduce his performances this term, bagging three goals and two assists already in 19 games. As per Calciomercato, the 22-year-old’s displays in midfield for Bologna have caught the attention of Pep Guardiola, whose club Manchester City are ‘starting to get information’ about him.

Apart from Man City, Mattias Svanberg has ‘several admirers’, especially in Serie A, where he is tracked by both AC Milan and Inter Milan. Tottenham are also interested in the 22-year-old box-to-box midfielder, whose contract at Renato Dall’Ara Stadium expires in 2023.

Bologna are hoping to extend Svanberg’s deal until 2025, as they don’t want to lose one of their prized assets for cheap. Martin Dahlin, the agent of Svanberg, is expected to arrive in Italy to explain the midfielder’s future plans as well as let Bologna know about any offers placed so far, the report adds.

Truly, Bologna want to tie the 22-year-old to a new contract, with a view to letting him leave the club after four years in the summer of 2022. A lot will depend upon the outcome of the meeting between Martin Dahlin and the Bologna board, the report concludes.

With Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan already in their 30s and Fernandinho entering the final six months of his contract, Manchester City’s interest in Mattias Svanberg does make sense. At the moment, the Cityzens have just started obtaining information on the Swede, who is tipped for a bright future.
