Bernardo Silva, himself, was linked with a move away from Manchester City this past summer. He was allowed to leave only if a suitable offer came along for him. Atletico Madrid were said to be interested in the 27-year-old but their reported offer did not meet City’s valuation for the midfielder.
With that said, Silva has not let his failed transfer come in the way of how he goes about his football. He has been the best player for City this season and one of the best players in the league, if not the best. With 7 goals and 1 assist from 18 games, Silva’s game has been absolutely fantastic to watch this season.
Speaking about his future to O Jogo (h/t Sportwitness), Silva hinted that he might end up staying at City post this season, amid the never-ending links linking the Portuguese midfielder with a move away from Camp Nou.
"“It depends. Right now I think it’s the best championship in the world, I think it’s the country where the level is highest.”“I think that at the moment the English teams are the strongest in the world and therefore it is always good to be where the best football is played.”“Then there are personal decisions that also count, such as being closer to the family, etc. But I confess that one of my dreams was to be part of the best championship in the world.”Source: Sportwitness"
Manchester City are arguably the greatest-ever Premier League side to have graced the league and only Arsenal’s ‘invincibles’ can enter the discussion of the greatest-ever PL team. Despite boasting of such a great team, the Cityzens haven’t managed to get their hands on the ever-alluring UEFA Champions League trophy.
This season like all others in recent times presents City with the golden chance to win the UCL title for the first time in their illustrious history. For that to happen though, City will need an in-form Silva and Pep Guardiola will also hope that the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish step up.
