There are no prizes for guessing that Manchester City have been Erling Haaland chasing since the conclusion of the previous summer. The Skyblues have been heavily linked to sign Erling Haaland for the next term.

However, the Cityzens aspirations of landing the Norwegian have taken a massive beating with his agent Mino Raiola’s statements suggesting his destination could be elsewhere.

"In a recent interview with the NOS, when inquired about Haaland’s future Mino Raiola stated that“Could Haaland wait for Barcelona? He can wait for anybody, We don’t have a pre-agreement with any club.”“We’ll look for the best option for him and I can’t rule out another year at Borussia Dortmund. Theoretically, that’s still possible.”“Barcelona will always be one of the world’s biggest clubs. Even despite their current situation,”“In a year or two they will be back. They have the power to find great economic agreements. They’ll only need a year or two to get back.”Source: MEN."

Barcelona have been struggling this season, having endured the worst possible start to this term with their Argentine Talisman, Lionel Messi forced to leave the club owing to the strict financial regulations imposed by La-Liga.

The Catalans are currently placed 7th on the table with 27 points from 17 league fixtures behind the likes of Real Betis, Rayo Vallecano, and Real Sociedad. To make matters worse, they are currently 16 points from the league leaders in Real Madrid.

The inevitable could only be delayed but not denied, with the Blaugrana making a stunning exit from the UEFA Champions League at the group stages itself, for the first time in two decades after losing 0-3 to Bayern Munchen at the Allianz Arena.

Barcelona are in dire need of reinforcements and their president, Joan Laporta’s meeting with Mino Raiola at Turin turned the tide in favor of the Catalans in case of signing Erling Haaland, Paul Pogba, and Matthias De Light.

Having said that, landing Haaland in the current financial situation is still a distant dream for the Blaugrana. With Raiola insisting the striker’s stay could be extended at the Signal Iduna Park, things could perfectly fall into place for the Spanish outfit.

Nevertheless, Manchester City has shifted their focus towards Serie-A and Fiorentina Striker Dusan Vlahovic could be an inch-perfect replacement for the Bundesliga Starlet if at all City can’t pull off the Haaland heist.
