Manchester City are set to battle it out with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen reports the Daily Star.

Andreas Christensen, 25, is facing an uncertain future at Chelsea having entered the final seven months of his contract. The center-back’s potential availability on a free transfer next summer has alerted the Blues’ Premier League rivals Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham.

Tottenham are the latest club to enter the race for the Dane’s signature, with manager Antonio Conte prioritizing strengthening the defensive spine of his side’s starting XI, claims the Daily Star. Man City and Man United are also keeping tabs on the Chelsea star’s situation and, mainly, what happens in January.

The report adds that Chelsea are yet to give up on agreeing on a new deal with Andreas Christensen, who is also tracked by European heavyweights AC Milan and Barcelona. The 25-year-old will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs starting from January 1, which potentially gives AC Milan and Barcelona the advantage over their English counterparts.

Andreas Christensen has done well at Chelsea over the last few years, playing a key role in the west London club’s Champions League triumph under Thomas Tuchel last season. He’s a very competent ball-playing center-back with a good aerial ability and game-reading skills. Thus, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see Man City monitoring the Denmark international’s unclear situation at Stamford Bridge.

In Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones, and Nathan Ake, Pep Guardiola has a solid set of central defenders at his disposal. However, with Ake attracting West Ham’s interest of late and Stones not featuring much in the Premier League as compared to last season, a situation could develop where Guardiola could be forced to dip into the transfer market for defensive reinforcements.

As things stand, Christensen is not short of suitors. It remains to be seen what Manchester City decide to do, and if Ake and Stones leave the Etihad Stadium in the next two transfer windows, Guardiola would be wise to snap up the Dane on a free transfer from Chelsea.
