Manchester City are well and truly in the race to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund next summer as they look to end their number nine woes.

Real Madrid, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in signing the Norweigan talent.

In 72 appearances for the Schwarz Gelben, Haaland has amassed 74 goals while assisting on 19 occasions. These are some staggering stats for someone who is only 21-years-old.

It is understood that a sum of £68 million would be required to prise Haaland away from Dortmund next summer, as the player’s release clause would be set into motion. Having said that, the deal is not as easy as it seems to be, particularly because of the player’s agent, Mino Raiola.

Raiola is known to broker some high-value deals and this case is no different. Raiola is said to be demanding as much as £47 million as agent commission to facilitate the transfer of Haaland.

This automatically leaves Bayern Munich and Barcelona out of the race as the former is not known for spending such a hefty fee for a single player. Coming to the latter, their finances won’t allow them to reach such finances. Of course, the signing-on bonuses will have to be included as well.

The Sun understands that City are interested in signing Haaland despite the hefty commission that Mino Raiola is demanding.

The Cityzens believe that securing Erling Haaland would be a long-term investment and their finances would be put to good use.

Real Madrid are also considered to be one of the favorites to sign Haaland but the 21-year-old is not said to be too keen on sharing the limelight with Kylian Mbappe and Vinicus Jr.

The entire operation could well cost up to £110-120 million and City certainly do have the finances to get the job done but the reigning Premier League champions will need to see some exits to balance their sheets.

Do you think the Cityzenswill finish on pole in the race to sign Haaland?
