Manchester City have been linked with Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger. Rudiger, 28, will be out of a valid contract with the Blues next term unless he decides to renew with the UEFA Champions League winners.

It is understood that the German wants to become one of the highest-paid players at his current club but Chelsea are unwilling to meet his wage demands. Having said that, the contract talks between the two parties are currently said to be at an impasse.

90min understands that Chelsea have resigned to the fact that they will be losing Rudiger for free next term with the defender being able to start holding contract talks with any potential suitors that might come his way, come this January.

Rudiger has established himself as one of the vital cogs in the current Chelsea set-up and in the process, he is one of the best defenders in Europe at the moment. It is, therefore, no surprise that he has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig, Juventus, and Inter.

In the current scenario, only Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City will be able to reach the 28-year-old’s wage demands.

City’s financial strength makes them one of the logical favorites to sign the German international but with the likes of John Stones, Ruben Dias, and Aymeric Laporte doing the job for Pep Guardiola more often than not, it would be unwise to think that CIty are mad about Rudiger.

City’s current backline is loaded with some exceptional talent and I don’t see them going for Rudiger this winter.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are considered to be the frontrunners to sign the defender and Manchester City can be included in the same equation but it is unclear how solid their interest is in the 28-year-old.

Do you think City will offer Rudiger a contract this winter?

Let us know.
