Manchester City deny talks involving one of the brightest talents of this generation

Manchester City have denied their rumored interest in RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, Fabrizio Romano understands. The Cityzens had been heavily linked with a transfer swoop for the Spaniard owing to the player’s versatile style of play, making him a perfect player for Guardiola’s plans.

Olmo, 23, has become one of Spain’s mainstays and his ability to excel both, on the flanks as well in the midfield is something that Pep Guardiola is said to admire a lot.

Olmo has also been linked with a move to FC Barcelona and the former La Liga giants even launched a last-minute offer for him in the recently concluded summer window but the Bundesliga giants squashed it down as they did not have sufficient time to look for a replacement.

Having said that, Olmo has been linked with Manchester City in the recent past but Pep Guardiola recently confirmed that the defending Premier League champions are not in talks to sign the 23-year-old.

Olmo would be the perfect replacement at the club for Ferran Torres, who is also linked with a move to Barcelona. Torres to Barcelona seems more likely than a potential boyhood club return for Dani Olmo, especially due to the pace the deal between the two clubs has been progressing. Xavi likes Ferran Torres and the Blaugrana wants the 21-year-old to lead their line.

Should Ferran Torres leave, Dani Olmo is a like-to-like replacement for him and I see Manchester City making a move for him. RB Leipzig are said to be open to selling the winger should a suitable offer arrive and are said to be demanding a sum in the range of €70 million, a similar figure that the Cityzens are demanding for Ferran Torres.
