In the last 36-48 hours, Barcelona executives visited Manchester to hold talks with Manchester City over the potential sale of Raheem Sterling. City currently have no intentions to part ways with Sterling as the Englishman is back to his goal-scoring form.

Having said that, the focus of the talks soon shifted to Ferran Torres. Xavi Hernandez, the current Barcelona boss is said to be an admirer of the Spaniard as he has proved to be a lethal finisher while also being able to take defenders 1v1 on the flanks.

Barcelona want Torres and the talks have accelerated quickly. The 21-year-old wants an out from City simply because he could realise his dream of leading the line at the Camp Nou. Torres is said to be content at City but the idea of leading the line at Barcelona is too great for him to miss.

It is understood that Pep Guardiola has given the green light to the player to join FC Barcelona, provided the clubs reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

While the Cityzens are said to be demanding a fee in the range of €70 million for the prospect, Barcelona are said to be prepared to pay €60 million over the course of 5 years.

City are said to consider the sale only if the player wants to leave the club and the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo understands that Torres has handed in a transfer request to the Cityzens as he looks to make a sensational return to the La Liga, after spending just over a season in England.

Torres is currently out injured but in the early part of the season, he was the go-to man for Pep Guardiola in front of the goal. His finishing prowess has shown remarkable growth in recent years and with a quality finisher lacking in the Blaugrana ranks, Xavi wants Torres.

Do you see Ferran Torres to Barcelona happening this winter or will the talks fail?

Let us know.
