Manchester City presented with the oppurtunity to get ahead in the Haaland race
Manchester City have been linked with Erling Haaland and it is no secret. Even the player himself knows that Manchester City is one of the possible destinations for him next summer.
City wanted Kane this past summer but their efforts weren’t really appreciated by Tottenham Hotspur and the Englishman ended up staying at the North London outfit for the ongoing season. With Haaland set to become available for as cheap at €75 million, City are unlikely to return for the Tottenham man, though there have been reports suggesting that the defending Premier League champions could return for him this winter.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United are all said to be interested to sign Haaland, in addition to Manchester City. Thus, it is safe to say that next summer we could witness an intense transfer race to sign one of the brightest talents of this generation. Having said that, 90min understands that Borussia Dortmund are looking to propose an alternative deal to the teams interested in signing the goal-machine.
The former Bundesliga champions are trying to keep Haaland at the Signa Iduna park but with their recent UEFA Champions League group-stage elimination, their hopes of retaining the services of their main man for the next season have taken a major dash.
Dortmund are understood to propose installment bids for the 21-year-old which means that the club that tables the highest bid to the German outfit could end up signing Haaland.
In other words, BVB are looking to make more than €75 million from Haaland’s sale.
This is far from becoming reality as Dortmund need the approval of Erling Haaland and his agent, Mino Raiola, in this matter.
Haaland remains the dream for Manchester City as their hunt for a perfect striker continues. With the financial strength that City possesses, very few teams could compete with them in case Dortmund’s plan to go around the release clause actually comes to fruition.
