Chelsea confident about tying down key Manchester City target
Manchester City and Real Madrid have been linked with Chelsea’s Mason Mount. Mount has established himself as a key figure in the Chelsea ranks ever since he was launched by Frank Lampard last season. As a matter of fact, Mount also played a key role in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League triumph last season and England’s dream run to the Euro 2020 final.
Mount’s current contract runs out in 2024 and the Blues obviously want to keep the Englishman at his boyhood club. It is understood that the English midfielder is unhappy with the terms of the contract being offered by Chelsea and could leave in the near future. Consequently, Real Madrid and Manchester City have been linked with him as possible destinations.
Football Insider has revealed that Chelsea have tabled a much better offer for the 22-year-old and the UCL champions are confident that they can tie him down for many years to come.
Mason Mount is likely to accept the contract and an agreement was always lurking when it came to him and his boyhood club. Moreover, it would be highly unlikely that Chelsea would be willing to sell one of their best players to direct rivals.
Mason Mount has been valued at £70 million by the current league leaders and Real Madrid are the best positioned to sign him in the hypothetical transfer race for his signature.
Manchester City have also been linked with the Blues’ Antonio Rudiger who looks set to leave on a Bosman after failing to reach an agreement with the former Premier League champions over his wage demands.
It is unlikely that the Cityzens would want to sign Rudiger as well, given that their defence has been doing so well for them in recent times.
I personally do not see Mason Mount signing up for Manchester City and it is only a matter of time before he reaches an agreement with his boyhood club.
What do you think?
