Barcelona are currently in the middle of a complete overhaul with a new boss in Xavi Hernandez at the helm. The legendary midfielder-turned coach is looking to make some sizable improvements to his current squad. Xavi’s attacking gameplay revolves around pure wingers and the Spaniard has his eyes set on Manchester City winger, Ferran Torres, understands Express.

Barcelona were also linked to Torres’ National teammate, Dani Olmo this past summer window, and the Blaugrana even pushed for a deadline day move which could not materialize.

With Jadon Sancho failing to capitalise on his Manchester United move and Marcus Rashford looking inconsistent off-late, the Red Devils are looking to move for Barcelona’s prime target Dani Olmo.

Xavi is planning to sign both, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo, thereby disrupting the plans that the two clubs of Manchester are planning to carry out.

Ferran Torres has looked the most impressive when it comes to finishing at Manchester City. In the absence of a pure striker, Torres did well to finish off some of the numerous chances that the midfield of Pep Guardiola creates.

Before sustaining the foot fracture while on National duty last month, Torres notched up 6 goals (club and country) from 10 appearances while assisting once.

It is clear that Pep Guardiola is looking to count on the Spaniard for the future but the Spaniard could prefer a move back to the La Liga. Given that the Cityzens are in the market to sign either Erling Haaland or Harry Kane, Torres could struggle for gametime in the presence of a pure stiker in the City ranks. Riyad Mahrer, Phil Foden, and Jack Grealish have looked untouhable in the City XI.

Ferran Torres, irrespective of the impressive season that he has had thus far, faces the possibility of falling down the pecking order at Manchester City, just like his teammate, Raheem Sterling.

Do you think Barcelona will be successful in their attempt to land Ferran Torres next summer?
