Manchester City fans sensed a huge sigh of relief when Bernardo Silva and Cole Palmer resumed training on the eve of the all-important clash against Everton on Sunday at the Etihad, understands MEN.
The Portuguese midfielder was absent for the clash against the Republic of Ireland owing to muscle strain where the National coach, Fernando Santos complained of him arriving tired from the Skyblues setup.
Though he started in the decisive fixture against Serbia, a stunning 0-1 defeat leaves the Portuguese on the verge of elimination from the FIFA World Cup 2022. They now head to the Qualification playoffs, the toughest route to reach the WorldCup alongside European Champions Italy.
Palmer has been sensational for quite a period of time was seen holding his hamstring in the England U-19 victory over the Czech Republic and was substituted at the hour mark.
He was withdrawn from their subsequent friendly against Georgia which raised concerns over the longevity of the break he required.
Both Silva and Palmer have been impressive in this campaign with the former proving to get better with every passing match and cementing his place in the midfield alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan.
Palmer has been a revelation for the Cityzens this season along with Phil Foden in the attacking third pushing the case for his cause in every single opportunity given by Pep Guardiola.
His stocks have risen enormously and by the looks of it, he will be one for the future for both Manchester City and the English National team.
The return of key figures has given a major boost for the Skyblues, who will be kick-starting their campaign after the never-ending International break by hosting Everton at the Etihad on matchday 12 of the English Premier League.
West Ham are breathing down City’s neck with both the sides tied on points and a goal difference separating them.
City can least afford a blip at this crucial juncture of the League and nothing short of a convincing win would please Pep Guardiola.
