Manchester City may decide to take a dip in the January transfer window and bring in a couple of new faces to further bolster their squad. While it’s no secret that the club is scouring the market for a new striker after missing out on Tottenham star Harry Kane, Pep Guardiola is set for a welcome boost on the injury front.

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City star Ferran Torres is all ready to step up his rehabilitation from a foot fracture that he suffered last month while on international duty.

The 21-year-old forward, who arrived at Manchester City from Valencia in the summer of 2020 for a fee of around €23 million, had started the new campaign very well before sustaining an unfortunate injury. Despite picking up a metatarsal problem in Spain’s Nations League semi-final win over Italy, he started the final against France and played 84 minutes.

It was later revealed that Ferran Torres had sustained a broken metatarsal that will keep him out of action for two to three months. The Spanish international is not expected to feature for Pep Guardiola’s side until at least December, although due to the nature and severity of his foot problem, it is a major possibility that he could be sidelined for the rest of 2021.

Nonetheless, Torres has now stepped up his return to full fitness for Manchester City. The Daily Mail claims that the 21-year-old Spaniard flew back to Manchester on Thursday after preliminary recovery abroad and is slated to begin individual fitness sessions with the club’s medical team.

This news should come as a big boost to Guardiola, as Torres is now counted as the Cityzens’ only recognized No.9 after being converted from a winger to a center-forward last season

The highly-rated young forward, known for his pace, creativity, vision, and smartness, could be back as soon as next month and if that happens, it would mean Torres is ahead of schedule, the report concludes.

Can the availability of Ferran Torres end Pep Guardiola’s finishing woes for the remainder of the season?
