Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling seems to be keen on a move to former club, Liverpool FC after finding it hard to get enough minutes under his belt at the Etihad, understands MEN.
The 28-year-old has been out of form ever since his scintillating performance at Euros for the Three Lions, which held them at the brink of helm only to be denied by Italy on the final night. He has been sidelined for the lion’s share of this season after failing to showcase his potential on the big stage.
The €100M man Jack Grealish and fellow wingers Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, and Phil Foden with their consistent performances made sure that Sterling was always heading oneway in the pecking order.
His solitary goal in nine appearances this season is a fine indication of what he’s been able to achieve thus far and it would require a miracle for him to be included in Guardiola’s plans.
The Englishman has been heavily linked to the Spanish Giant FC Barcelona since last summer and the deal was unfeasible at that point of time owing to the financial crisis at the Blaugrana. After the recruitment of legendary midfielder Xavi Hernandez as the new Catalan boss, Sterling’s Laliga switch is looking inevitable especially with Xavi’s interest in pure wingers.
Manchester City have made their intentions clear over the fact that they prefer doing business with clubs outside of England rather than direct rivals.
The price tag of Sterling is quoted at €50M by Manchester City and with rumours hovering about meetings being held at Barcelona for the “feasibility of the Sterling deal” only intensify, which is already turning out to be a tense affair.
So, will Raheem stay and fight for his cause at the Skyblues or join forces with FC Barcelona and assist them in turning the clock back to their glory days of the past?
What would have been your outcome if in Sterling’s shoes?
