Manchester City make enquiry for €50 million-rated AS Monaco starlet
According to a report from Italian outlet TuttoJuve, Manchester City are among the few elite European clubs to enquire about AS Monaco starlet Aurelien Tchouameni’s price.
Aurelien Tchouameni, 21, is rated as one of Europe’s hottest prospects and has attracted a lot of attention from various clubs since enjoying his breakthrough campaign with AS Monaco last term. He has made 65 appearances for Monaco and has netted five times since arriving from Ligue 1 rivals Bordeaux in January 2020.
In this time, the youngster has broken into the French national side, and the midfielder starred in their UEFA Nations League triumph in October. Tchouameni’s meteoric rise at the Principality has not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Juventus all interested in securing his signature, TuttoJuve claim.
The report adds that a fee of €50 million would facilitate a move for Tchouameni next summer—a price which is very low considering his age, talent and potential. Meanwhile, Chelsea would be willing to go as high as €60 million to sign the Ligue 1 midfielder, which is a potential threat for the interested parties, including Manchester City.
As for Manchester City, they are interested in Tchouameni for good reasons. Veteran midfielder Fernandinho is out of contract at the end of the season and is most likely to end his glittering career at Manchester City then. In addition, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne have become a bit injury-prone in recent times, thus, making Tchouameni a viable target for Pep Guardiola.
Tchouameni is a defensive midfielder by trade but has the qualities to become a complete midfielder in the coming years, provided he gets the right guidance and coaching. The Frenchman boasts an impressive passing radar, is tenacious in the tackle and works extremely hard off the ball, whilst his physical attributes could help him adapt to the Premier League like a duck to water.
Undoubtedly, the 21-year-old Monaco man would prove a stunning capture if Guardiola gets his target next summer.
