Manchester City star opens up on his future amid transfer speculations
Manchester City had an unsatisfactory summer window because of two reasons; one, they could not replace club legend Sergio Aguero with a quality striker in Harry Kane, and two, because they could not sell.
Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling, and Ilkay Gundogan were linked with a move away from the club this past summer. While Pep Guardiola himself, confirmed Silva’s desire to leave, the same cannot be said for the other three names on this list.
Sterling, Laporte and Gundogan are said to be on the list of players that wanted to leave City this past summer because the former two were in desperate need of minutes while the latter had no assurances that he would still be a guaranteed starter in the City ranks.
Having said that, Laporte and Bernardo Silva have managed to turn around things for themselves and have now attained the ‘untouchable’ status in Pep’s XI. Having said that, Silva has been the breakout star for City this season, thus far.
With 2 goals and a solitary assist from 9 outings in the Premier League, many would argue that Silva is perhaps not having the season that he is said to be having. However, it is not always about numbers.
Silva has been putting in some fantastic performances in the midfield for Pep Guardiola in recent weeks and his versatile nature means that he has been playing as the occasional winger and a false nine as well. With no fixed position in the XI, Silva has done really well to put in eye-watering performances and the most notable of them came against the League title contenders in Liverpool.
Silva has been linked with a move away from the club this coming winter window as well and speaking to Sky Sports on his future, the 27-year-old said:
"“I’m feeling happy right now. I love the club, I’ve always loved the club,” he said, without ruling out he could look to leave again in the future.“I feel the love from the fans, from the staff and from my team-mates and that was never the question.”Source: MEN"
It must be mentioned that FC Barcelona were linked with the likes of Silva, Sterling, Laporte, and Gundogan this past summer and the Catalan giants could return this coming winter window for Bernardo Silva who still hasn’t confirmed that his desire is indeed to stay at Manchester City. The 27-year-old has not really ruled out any potential move for him and it remains a matter of speculation.
Do you think Manchester City can persuade Bernardo Silva to stay at the club for the foreseeable future?
