Manchester City are keen on making amends for their failure to sign a top-qualoty striker this past summer. The Cityzens were close to signing Harry Kane and even had the necessary offers in place but Tottenham Hotspur’s firm stance of not wanting to let their main-man leave meant that the defending Premier League champions would exit the summer window with only signing in Jack Grealish.

The Sky Blues are in need of a proper number 9 even though they have Gabriel Jesus. Jesus identifies himself more as a winger than a striker. Jesus has been improving but his progress hasn’t been enough to meet City’s finishing demands. Before Ferran Torres got injured, it seemed as though City found their much-needed finisher but his injury has only proven that City need a definite finisher.

Dusan Vlahovic has been termed as one of the best upcoming strikers in the game and his style of play fits in Pep Guardiola’s books.

As per a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport relayed by Football Italia, City have made initial contacts with Vlahovic’s agent.

The 21-year-old striker’s contract runs out in 2023 and has made it clear that he does not want to renew with the Italian outfit. Florentina have not ruled out the possibility of selling their star striker in the upcoming winter window.

Vlahovic has been valued at €60 million by Florentina and the Italian outfit aren’t ready to let him leave for a fee lower than that figure. Having said that, Dusan is said to be demanding a fee in the range of £6 million/year and that is a bargain fee for a quality player.

Juventus are also said to be interested in signing the Serbian striker but the Cityzens are ahead of them in the race. The former Serie A champions cannot afford to pay €60 million for the Serbian given their current financial state. They could however, go for a loan with a mandatory purchase option for the striker.

With City being tipped as the favorites to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund next summer, would you prefer having Vlahovic or Haaland lead the line?
