Manchester City make first contacts with Internacional starlet’s agent
According to Brazilian journalist Juliano Machado, Manchester City are interested in signing Internacional forward Yuri Alberto, as confirmed directly by the player’s agent, Andre Cury.
Yuri Alberto, 20, has become a hot prospect in Brazilian football following his performances for Internacional. The versatile forward enjoyed his superb breakthrough in Brazilian Serie A last year with nine goals in 23 appearances and built on his performances by bagging 11 goals in 27 outings during the 2021 campaign, whilst netting three goals in the Copa Libertadores.
The young Brazilian has 29 goals in 73 appearances across two seasons for Internacional, thereby, catching the attention of Manchester City. The Sky Blues have been in contact with Alberto to talk about a potential move to the Etihad Stadium, Andre Cury confirmed via Juliano Machado.
It has been said innumerable times that Manchester City are in the market for an out-and-out number nine. All summer, the English champions tried to sign Harry Kane from Spurs, but the north London club’s chief Daniel Levy was in no position to let go his striker.
Pep Guardiola’s side have played some lovely stuff without a traditional number nine this season, although there have been instances—against Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool—where they lacked the clinical edge in front of goal.
Sergio Aguero has left a huge void behind at Manchester City and Guardiola seems determined to fill it probably in the next transfer window. With Raheem Sterling linked with a January move to Barcelona, it makes a more pressing need for the City tactician to bring in a forward.
Yuri Alberto is the latest South American talent who has found his way onto Man City’s list of targets and the fact he has already scored plenty of goals in the Brazilian Serie A this season is something that cannot be overlooked.
Due to his technical abilities and tactical versatility to play out wide or through the middle, the 20-year-old Internacional prodigy fits the bill perfectly at Manchester City. Having already made initial contacts with the Brazilian club, the Cityzens must quickly snap up Alberto before other top European clubs start circling for his signature.
